Chesapeake Gateways Ambassador – Network Designations

About the role

The Chesapeake Gateways Ambassador serves as a key liaison between the National Park Service and the Chesapeake Gateways Network, focusing on promoting visitor experiences and supporting network designations.

Responsibilities

• Support developing digital listings to highlight elements of Chesapeake Gateways with specific partners in alignment with Network general agreements.
• Contributes to the implementation of a professional digital presence based on strategic priorities for providing information to the public and partner organizations.
• Participates in a variety of activities and projects related to the mission of the National Park Service, including community engagement and outreach.
• Link culture and nature through interpretation, education, messaging, and initiatives.
• Facilitate designations and support partners in activating Network benefits.
• Assist with planning and hosting community programs and the park's annual network meeting.
• Work with the public and act as the face of NPS Chesapeake Gateways at public events, partner meetings, and while roving Chesapeake Gateways places or in the community.

Requirements

• Some college course work completed in Communications, History, Public Affairs, Public Speaking, or other related subjects.
• Experience working in public facing roles and customer service.
• Must be between the ages of 21 and 30, and a US citizen that has received a high school diploma or GED.
• Eligible to receive an AmeriCorps Education Award.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Completed some college course work in Communications, History, Public Affairs, Public Speaking, or other related subjects.
• Experience working in public facing roles and customer service.
• Age between 21 and 30, US citizen with a high school diploma or GED.
• Eligible for an AmeriCorps Education Award.
• Valid driver’s license.

Benefits

• $760/week stipend paid bi-weekly ($600 living stipend + $160 additional member benefit).
• $7,395 AmeriCorps Segal Education Award upon successful completion of 1700 hour service term (award amount varies based on length of commitment and can be used for paying off federal student loans or paying tuition for a Title IV accredited college).

Pay

$760/week ($600/week stipend + $160/housing allowance)

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours/week. Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work. Most federal holidays off, but may be expected to work holidays during the busy summer season. Possible participation in national, state, or local service projects or events as part of the service term.
