Chemistry Technician, PGSS Summer 2026 - Mellon College of Science

Core Responsibilities

• Cook with program faculty and Teaching Lab staff to prepare materials for labs and team projects.
• Prepare reagents and supplies ahead of scheduled sessions (held MTRF, 2:30–5:30 PM).
• Safely store reagents and materials at the end of each session.
• Record and document any glassware breakage.
• Provide on-site support during lab and team project sessions.
• Aid in the setup for PGSS program events, including the Opening Ceremony, Scientific Symposium, and Closing Ceremony.

Qualifications

• Strong academic record.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Completion of sophomore, junior, or senior year in an undergraduate chemistry program.
• Demonstrated experience with chemical safety and laboratory best practices.
• A combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Requirements

• Successful background check.
• PA Child Protection Clearances (Act 153).
• Submission of a cover letter outlining interest in the position and a current resume/CV.
