About the role
Cambium is seeking a Chemistry Laboratory Technician to join our resin development team. You'll work closely with scientists and engineers to contribute to research and testing activities. This will be a hands-on role and you will be involved in the entire process. We will provide training and mentorship every step of the way. As Cambium experiences rapid growth, the responsibilities of this role are expected to evolve.
Responsibilities
- Perform lab analysis and special tests of chemicals used in the wet lab areas
- Prepare samples for analytical testing
- Operate analytical instruments such as HPLC, pH/KF titration, NMR, FTIR, etc.
- Accurately report chemical analysis and tests to scientists/engineers
- Carefully weigh and mix ingredients for chemical reactions
- Complete all internal departmental documentation accurately
- Keep accurate up to date records regarding reactions on production floor
- Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on most lab equipment, glassware, chemical reactors, pumps, and other lab related equipment
- Use filtration systems to separate and collect chemical products
- Use vacuum ovens to dry and prepare reagents
- Perform lab inventory and identify chemicals and equipment needed to order
- Maintain a safe, neat and orderly work place
- Follow all safety measures when handling chemicals and hazardous waste with regard to use, mixing and disposing chemicals
- Follow written and verbal instructions with excellent attention to detail to precisely carry out a wide range of laboratory tasks
- Create and contribute to the product demonstration and engineering teams in a manner consistent with Cambium’s mission and values and the growth of Cambium’s business
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 3-5 years of experience working in a formulation or chemistry laboratory
- Familiarity of standard laboratory practices
- A strong desire to learn and be willing to work in a hands-on role
- Detail oriented, meticulous, and patient working style
- Able to complete tasks on time and excellent attention to details
Qualifications
- Due to the nature of the work, you must have US citizenship
- Superb communication skills and team-oriented mindset
- Able to lift 50 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of experience with laboratory work (wet chemistry)
- Experience with any or all of the following analytical equipment: HPLC, KF/pH titration, NMR, and FTIR
