About the role

The Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Sciences (PGSS) seeks a lab technician to support the chemistry program. The program dates for PGSS 2026 are:

  • Student Arrival & Opening Ceremony: Sunday, June 21, 2026
  • Scientific Symposium: Thursday July 23 and Friday July 24, 2026
  • Closing Ceremony: Friday July 24, 2026

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating with the program faculty and Chemistry Teaching Lab staff to ensure materials are pulled and available for team projects and lab.
  • Preparing reagents and materials prior to the start of team project and lab sessions (lab and team projects are MTRF 2:30-5:30pm).
  • Ensuring that all reagents and materials are stored safely at the end of a team project and lab session.
  • Recording glassware breakage.
  • In addition to these core responsibilities, you may be asked to assist with set up for the Opening Ceremony, Scientific Symposium, and/or the Closing Ceremony.

Qualifications

  • Strong academic records.
  • Strong communication skills – both oral and written.
  • Completed their sophomore, junior, or senior in an undergraduate chemistry program.
  • Demonstrable safety records with regards to chemical safety and chemistry research.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
