Chemistry Technician
About the role

This position performs all functions associated with preparing monomer formulas, packaging solutions, and serves as a trained backup for other proficiencies. Responsibilities include providing materials to manufacturing areas, performing analytical tests for formulation release, and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of monomer mixes and packaging solutions, including release testing and all associated documentation.
- Follow SOPs and formula specifics for the product being prepared.
- Perform operational set-up of batch processing, production, testing, approvals, and all associated documentation.
- Ensure laboratory areas are cleaned prior to the next shift.
- Maintain legible and accurate records, logs, books, and other required documentation.
- Report discrepancies (e.g., testing, autoclave cycles) to the Coordinator or Supervisor.
- Clean and maintain all equipment and instrumentation, including glassware and carboys.
- Develop and implement procedures compliant with Regulatory and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
- Perform raw material receipt, testing, and associated documentation as directed.
- Manage supply and raw material ordering for the lab(s) as needed.
- Execute engineering studies and validations per management direction.
- Provide training and documentation for all elements of the Material Preparations Laboratory workflow, including training others in a backup/support role.
- Assist Calibration and Maintenance Departments with preventive maintenance, verifications, and calibrations of equipment and instrumentation.
- Work extended hours, including mandatory overtime, to complete daily department goals or tasks as business needs dictate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of ISO, FDA, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
- Strong interpersonal skills to work in a team-centered environment.
- Intermediate skill in Excel, Word, and Outlook; ability to learn business systems such as Agile, SAMM, and CVML.
- Ability to work independently in a self-directed manner.
- Proficient reading, writing, and communicating in English.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment, and make minor adjustments as needed.
Qualifications
- 2 years’ experience and an associate’s degree in chemistry; OR 5 years’ experience in a laboratory setting.
- High School diploma or GED equivalency required; Associate’s degree in chemistry preferred.
Work Environment
- Cleanroom environment.
- Routine standing, lifting, and walking.
- Potential exposure to caustic chemicals.
- Occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.
- Occasionally prolonged sitting in front of a computer.
Pay
The hourly pay range for this position is $22.70 to $28.00 per hour. Compensation offered will be determined based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and education.
