Chemical Dependency Counselor
About the role
The Substance Use Counselor will be in charge of assisting patients through medically assisted treatments and offering techniques for handling opioid addiction. The counselor conducts individual and group sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies, evaluates patients’ progress during counseling, and collaborates with doctors, nurses, and other counselors to assist patients in achieving overall outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling services
- Direct service hours at regularly scheduled intervals
- Coordinate all services throughout treatment
- Facilitate, establish, and review with each patient the initial treatment plan
- Complete biopsychosocial assessments
- Develop aftercare and discharge plans
- Ensure efficient and effective delivery of counseling services to all patients in a trauma‑informed manner
- Perform other related duties as determined by supervisor
Qualifications
- Must possess an Ohio CDCA, LCDC II, LCDC III, LPC, or LSW
- Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals is preferred
- Demonstrate a positive, non‑judgmental, and accepting attitude toward the patient population
- Understanding of an EMR system (electronic medical records)
- Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check
