ChemAction Outreach Specialist (Community Outreach and Environmental Education Specialist 3)

About the role

The Hazardous Waste and Toxics Reduction program within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a ChemAction Outreach Specialist (Community Outreach and Environmental Education Specialist 3) position. Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.

Responsibilities

• Take an active role in supporting inclusion of environmental justice (EJ) and nondiscrimination laws and policies in hazardous chemical reduction work.
• Lead public outreach and engagement activities associated with the development and implementation of hazardous chemical plans, rule making, legislative reports, and Toxic Free Cosmetics Act implementation.

Requirements

• Must have strong community engagement skills.
• Experience in environmental education and outreach.
• Knowledge of environmental justice principles and practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, public health, social sciences, or related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in environmental education, community outreach, or similar field.
• Experience working with diverse communities and understanding of environmental justice issues.

Skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Benefits

• Additional 5% pay increase if located in King County, WA.

Pay

$50,088.00 - $67,380.00 Annually

Schedule

This position will be eligible for up to a 90% tele-work schedule.
