Cheesemonger/Salumi and Formaggi Artisan- Eataly Short hills

Eataly is the world’s largest artisanal Italian food and beverage marketplace. Each Eataly location has its own character and theme, but all share the aim of letting guests — EAT authentic Italian food at restaurants, cafés and to‑go counters, SHOP a selection of high‑quality Italian, local and homemade products, and LEARN through classes and the team’s product knowledge.

About the role

The cheese department houses over 500 high‑quality cheeses sourced from Italy, internationally, and locally, many of which are exclusive to Eataly. A Cheesemonger prepares, packages, receives, and stocks product, shares a passion for cheese with guests, and reports to the Fresh Market Manager.

Responsibilities

• Assist guests with cheese selection and share product knowledge.
• Weigh, label, and package products and complete food preparation in a timely manner.
• Ensure counter and display refrigerators are organized accurately according to the pricing menu, and promptly inform management when food quantities or supplies are low.
• Merchandise displays attractively and rotate products per quality and First‑In‑First‑Out (FIFO) standards.
• Clean work station thoroughly.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills.
• Basic math skills.
• Basic knife skills.
• Knowledge of cheese highly preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Requirements

• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to sustain mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending, and squatting.
• Ability to use commercial equipment such as scales, packaging machinery, and a cash register.
