About the role
Sign on Bonus for full time positions! Full time night & day positions available. Rotating every other weekend.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes the nursing process as the basis for nursing care.
- Provides direct patient care.
- Performs nursing functions, applying professional skills.
- Documents and maintains date on patient’s record.
- Maintains a safe environment.
- Applies basic teaching / learning concepts to patient education.
- Provides for life support.
- Acts as a patient advocate.
- Cooperates as a member of the nursing unit, department and overall hospital team.
- Participates in performance improvement.
- Delegates and / or supervises aspects of care to team members and reviews completion.
- Communicates pertinent data to appropriate parties.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Conducts himself/herself effectively in stressful situations.
- Approaches situations with distressed patients, families, and visitors in a calm, professional manner.
- Collaborates with physicians and nurses to devise individualized care plans for patients.
- Properly assesses and manages patient populations with appropriate intervention.
- Administers intravenous medications and parenteral nutrition.
- Administers blood products and evaluates patient response.
- Supervises nursing staff and monitoring their needs.
- Coordinates nursing assignments and patient care.
- Oversees patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Mentors new staff and provides support and guidance to all staff members.
- Ensures compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Identifies issues or emergent matters and responds in a calm and effective manner.
Requirements
- Associates degree from accredited school of Nursing required.
- Bachelor's degree from accredited school of Nursing preferred.
- Registered Nurse in the state of Lousiana required, CPR required.
- PALS and ACLS preferred.
- NRP certification preferred.
- Current knowledge of clinical practice.
- Ability to operate and handle many kinds of complex equipment.
- Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for adolescent through geriatric patients.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of theory, principles, techniques, and practice of professional nursing; of scientific principles and nursing research; of preparation, administration, and actions of medications; of treatments and medical procedures; of counseling and teaching techniques; of medical equipment as it relates to patient care.
- Two years of RN experience in area of specialty is required.
Qualifications
- Education: Associates degree from accredited school of Nursing required. Bachelor's degree from accredited school of Nursing preferred.
Skills
