Charge Nurse (RN) - Adolescent Behavioral Health Unit
For a limited time, MaineHealth is offering up to $20,000 sign-on bonus for all eligible experienced Registered Nurses with greater than 2 years of experience. About the role
The Registered Nurse – Charge – Behavioral Health assumes frontline leadership in the daily operations of the 1W Adolescent Unit at Spring Harbor Hospital. This role works collaboratively with departmental staff, physicians/advanced practice practitioners, hospital staff, pre-hospital providers, and community agencies to provide oversight and direction for the delivery of safe, patient- and family-centered care.
About the unit
The 1W Adolescent Unit specializes in the care of adolescents (ages 12–20) who require acute mental-health treatment. The 14-bed unit serves patients at imminent risk to themselves or others, or those unable to function at a lower level of care due to psychiatric symptoms. Spring Harbor treats children and adolescents throughout Maine with a multidisciplinary team that includes medical providers, occupational therapists, social-work clinicians, and nursing staff.
- Common diagnoses treated: depression, disruptive-behavior disorders, emerging psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and substance-use disorders.
- Unit programming includes comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, medication management, individual and family therapy, occupational therapy, yoga, and on-site academic tutoring.
- Facility features include a gym, outside playground, and courtyard areas.
- Treatment plans are individualized and may include dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy skills groups, psychoeducation groups, individual and milieu therapies, occupational therapy, individual psychotherapy, and psychotropic medication.
Responsibilities
- Provide frontline leadership in the daily operations of the adolescent behavioral-health unit.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, hospital staff, pre-hospital providers, and community agencies to ensure safe, patient- and family-centered care.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
- Current applicable state license as a Registered Professional Nurse.
- Current BLS certification required or must complete within 30 days of start date.
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Certification (RN-BC) preferred.
- Two years of relevant experience preferred; experience in psychiatric nursing preferred.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $37.09 to $50.17 per hour. Compensation for part-time positions is determined on a prorated basis consistent with scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
