Charge Nurse (RN) - Pediatric Behavioral Health

About the role

The Department 35150 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center seeks a Charge Nurse (RN) - Pediatric Behavioral Health.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates the organization and management of the unit.
• Contributes to the provision of safe, quality patient care.
• Prepares shift assignments and monitors unit activities.
• Collaborates with Patient Care Supervisor/Director of Patient Care for schedule/assignment changes.
• Receives and records calls for absences.
• Supervises and delegates patient care as needed.
• Evaluates, monitors and documents patient/situation; appropriately intervenes.
• Makes rounds with physicians, when indicated, or delegates to staff nurse.
• Auxiliaries in coordinating patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Initiates appropriate action to correct disciplinary problems.
• Documents and communicates action to Director of Patient Care.
• Conducts monthly meetings with shift employees.
• Participates in developing and revising Rehabilitation Nursing Standards and Nursing Policies and Procedures.
• Attends and participates in Nurse Management and Performance Improvement Meetings.
• Directs staff during emergency situations and/or drills.
• Reviews safety and emergency procedures with staff.
• Participates in Performance Improvement as scheduled.
• Monitors and initiates audits of medication and crash carts.
• Documents patient's use of chargeable items.
• Provides teaching patients, families, and staff.
• Evaluates and documents the effectiveness of patient/family learning.
• Serves as a professional role model and mentor to nursing staff.

Requirements

• Current licensure as a professional registered nurse by the State of Georgia or State of North Carolina.
• Current certification in CPR.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a baccalaureate or associated degree or a diploma.
• Two to four years of progressive nursing experience in a healthcare environment.
• Leadership skills and/or advanced education in leadership.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of rehabilitation nursing preferred.
• Verbal ability and communication skills needed for interpersonal relations.
• Ability to objectively assess and analyze situations and employees.
• Ability to function effectively and effectively under stress and to make sound judgments in critical situations.

Skills

• Principles, concepts and techniques of nursing and management.
• Principles of pathophysiology.
• Principles of body mechanics.
• Principles of infection control/Body Substance Isolation.
• Principles of response to codes and other emergencies.

Pay

$41.10 - $61.65 per hour

Schedule

3-12 hour night shifts every 3rd weekend
