About the role

The Department 35150 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center seeks a Charge Nurse (RN) for the Pediatric Behavioral Health unit. This position is full-time with benefits eligibility and works 3-12 hour night shifts every 3rd weekend. The pay range is $41.10 - $61.65 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the organization and management of the unit.
  • Contributes to the provision of safe, quality patient care.
  • Prepares shift assignments and monitors unit activities.
  • Schedules and assigns staff as needed.
  • Evaluates patient conditions and intervenes as necessary.
  • Maintains awareness of patient conditions and notifies appropriate personnel.
  • Conducts monthly meetings with staff and submits minutes.
  • Directs staff during emergency situations and drills.
  • Reviews and updates safety and emergency procedures.
  • Participates in performance improvement meetings and studies.
  • Provides patient education and assists with discharge planning.
  • Ensures compliance with safety policies and promotes a safe environment.
  • Trains patients and families on safety rules and procedures.
  • Assists in the implementation of the Rehabilitation Nursing Plan of Care.
  • Documents patient progress and interventions.
  • Assists in the resolution of patient care issues.

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Georgia or North Carolina.
  • Current certification in CPR.
  • Certification in rehabilitation nursing (CRRN) preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a baccalaureate or associate degree.
  • Two to four years of progressive nursing experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Leadership skills and/or advanced education in leadership.
  • Knowledge of rehabilitation nursing preferred.

  • Ability to assess and analyze situations and employees.
  • Ability to function effectively under stress and make sound judgments.
  • Physical requirements including range of motion, grip strength, and lifting capacity.
  • Ability to work in noisy environments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
