Duties And Responsibilities
- Communicate with family members regarding the progress of the resident.
- May be required to assist visiting physicians in rounds.
- May be required to draw blood and obtain fluids to submit for lab work.
- Record and monitor all progress of residents and communicate with physicians according to facility policies.
- May be required to assist in dining area and assist in feeding.
- Monitor work of other nursing staff in unit to insure thoroughness and assist with tasks as needed.
- Required to use telephones to communicate with physicians, arrange for transportation for doctor appointments, and contact families.
- Make rounds to insure cleanliness and proper care to residents.
- Coincides care of residents in accordance with their care plans.
- Effectively manages all nursing staff assigned to unit.
- May be required to complete various reports as needed.
- Makes sure that all medications and treatments are administered as ordered and in a timely fashion according to facility policies and schedules.
- Required to replace nursing staff that call in sick with additional staff.
- May be required to help provide nursing services when sufficient staff cannot be attained.
Essential Job Duties/Physical Requirements
- Regular worksite attendance.
- Must have a valid Kansas nursing license that is in good standing with the State.
- Must have basic computer skills; must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must be able to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
- Must be able to perform the essential position functions of the job with, or without reasonable accommodation.
- Employee is required to use a transfer/gait belt or to obtain the assistance of another employee when attempting to assist residents when lifting or carrying objects in excess of 25 pounds.
- The employee must be aware that during the normal, routine performance of the essential functions, some of the following body movements may occur naturally, although hey may not be a requirement of the job.
