Provides safe, age-appropriate patient care, and functions as advisor, resource and leader for other members of the patient care team.
About the Role
Provides general, acute care for inpatient adults who may be suffering from mental or behavioral health issues. The 4A unit has a capacity of 12 beds, while the BHU census capacity is 23 beds. Patients in these units may be depressed, schizophrenic, or struggle with substance abuse or a mood disorder. In addition to the BHU and 4A, staff may work in one of two 6-bed areas of the ER, referred to as North Pod and West Pod, which can house adults, adolescents, or children, in acute psychiatric crisis.
Responsibilities
- Provides safe, age-appropriate patient care
- Functions as advisor, resource and leader for other members of the patient care team
- Assesses patient status using strong organizational and leadership skills
- Works in multiple areas including the 4A unit, BHU, and North Pod/West Pod in the ER
Requirements
- Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college)
- Requires knowledge of a specialized field 2 or more years of experience in clinical specialty
- Nursing Certification of specialty area within 3-5 years of hire
- 1-3 years of experience
- Maryland Registered Nurse License
- American Heart Association BLS Certification
