Overview
The Cancer Center of Kansas (CCK) is seeking a full-time, on-site Charge Entry Specialist to join our team in our Wichita, KS offices. The typical work week is Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM with no major holidays, no on-call and no weekends.
Responsibilities
- Receives and reviews charge documents for accuracy and coordinates with staff on any payment or billing issues.
- Enters charges into the PMS according to established processes.
- Enter and review charge tickets before finalizing and/ or updating charges in the PMS and then releasing the same.
- Extract information from the electronic medical record (“EMR”) to ensure completeness and accuracy of charges.
- Follow up with appropriate personnel to obtain complete and correct information for charge entry.
- Evaluate and correct any returned claims.
- Timely and accurate entry of information in the practice management and EMR system.
- Adheres to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) laws and guidelines with regards to patient’s records and information.
- Attends required, applicable meetings.
- Remains current on all compliance requirements.
- Ensures all applicable policies and procedures of the company and Network are followed.
- Cross-train on and perform other duties as requested or assigned including coverage within the department.
- Performs other tasks as reasonably requested or assigned.
Qualifications
- High school degree or equivalent required.
- Minimum one year experience in data entry is preferred.
- Mandatory medical business office experience.
Physical Demands
- Sitting for long periods of time.
- Stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies.
- Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and other office equipment.
- Viewing and typing on computer screens for prolonged periods of time.
Work Environment
- Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.
- In-person interaction with co-workers and management and/or clients.
- Minimal travel by automobile to office sites.
