Responsibilities
- Processes charge forms for data entry to enter accurate information into billing system.
- Checks for accuracy of information, matching verifications, checking for valid medical information, diagnoses, insurance, and patient information, and makes necessary corrections.
- Contacts the appropriate source to retrieve missing data.
- Maintains a charge entry status/communication log.
- Utilizes appropriate system applications to complete patient demographics.
- Performs clerical duties including filing as needed.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 6 months of charge entry, medical billing or coding experience
- Medical billing certification (preferred)
- Experience with insurance provider-based billing procedures (preferred)
- Clinical coding certification (preferred)
