Job Responsibilities
- Provides spiritual care to patients, families, and staff at hospital as appropriate and complete spiritual assessments.
- Collaborates with interprofessional care team, volunteers and faith community to integrate physical, emotional and spiritual healing for the patient.
- Maintains timely documentation of spiritual care services, which reflect the pertinent information for spiritual assessment, spiritual care involvement, outcomes and recommendations for plan of care.
- Responds to referrals from staff, patients, and families and well as being responsive to crisis intervention, medical and trauma alerts.
- Demonstrates strong multi-faith and multicultural chaplaincy skills so as to provide spiritual care in multi-faith and multicultural environment.
- Respects diversity and differences including, but not limited to, race, culture, gender, sexual orientation and spiritual/religious practices.
- Provides multi-faith worship experiences at various settings in the hospital.
- Advocates for the needs and interests of patients including larger system change to improve access to care and improved delivery of services.
Qualifications
- MDiv or DMin with focus in pastoral care
- Graduate theological degree.
- Must have formal graduate theological education in pastoral care, theology, and/or psychology.
- One or more years’ experience in pastoral ministry and/or hospital chaplaincy
- Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc.
- Faith group endorsement/ecclesiastical endorsement/ Judicatory Approval
- Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Computer literacy.
