Position Summary

Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM), a national leader in research, education, and clinical care, seeks a visionary physician leader and scholar to serve as the next Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine. The department includes six academic divisions and nine fellowship programs, supporting nationally relevant training and scholarship across emergency ultrasound, EMS, simulation, toxicology, pediatric emergency medicine, clinical operations, disaster medicine, motorsports medicine, and research.

Basic Qualifications

This position is ideal for an accomplished leader who is visionary in developing interdisciplinary research programs and clinical models that improve acute care outcomes. The ideal candidate will be an enterprise thought-leader, adept at fostering scientific collaboration, driving clinical excellence within a complex health system, and mentoring faculty and learners to achieve their full potential. A doctorate or terminal degree is required. Minimum qualifications include an MD, MD/PhD or equivalent, and credentials that merit appointment at the rank of Professor with tenure. The individual selected for this position will have a strong track record of extramurally funded research and be a principled leader with a record of clinical excellence, teaching, administrative accomplishment, exceptional communication, and interpersonal skills.
