About the Role
A growing and highly successful oil and gas distribution and energy-related organization in the Greater Houston area is seeking an experienced Controller. This is a hands-on finance leadership role overseeing accounting, financial reporting, treasury operations, budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls across a complex multi-entity environment. The Controller will partner closely with ownership and senior leadership while remaining actively involved in day-to-day financial operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead accounting and financial operations across multiple legal entities.
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including consolidated financial reporting and US GAAP compliance.
- Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and internal controls.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for banking relationships, credit facilities, and lending partners.
- Manage treasury functions, including borrowing base requirements, credit line management, cash forecasting, and liquidity planning.
- Partner with ownership and executive leadership to provide meaningful financial analysis and business insights.
- Lead external audit, tax, banking, and advisor relationships.
- Support ongoing business growth initiatives and operational improvements.
- Play a significant leadership role in the organization's current ERP system implementation, including process improvements, reporting enhancements, and system optimization.
- Develop, mentor, and lead an accounting and finance team while remaining actively involved in day-to-day financial operations.
Requirements
- Active CPA license (required, no exceptions).
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- Experience as a Controller, Corporate Controller, Divisional Controller, Assistant CFO, or VP of Finance.
- Significant experience operating within a multi-entity environment.
- Strong background in consolidated financial reporting and US GAAP.
- Extensive treasury management experience, including:
- Managing banking relationships.
- Serving as the primary point of contact with lenders.
- Managing credit facilities and lines of credit.
- Cash forecasting and liquidity management.
- Prior ERP system implementation experience with a significant role in selection, planning, implementation, testing, go-live, or post-implementation optimization.
- Experience with NetSuite is highly preferred; candidates with experience in comparable mid-market or enterprise ERP platforms (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Infor, JD Edwards, Sage X3, Acumatica) will also be considered.
- Ability to partner closely with leadership, operations, and external consultants during ERP system implementation.
- Experience leading and developing accounting and finance teams.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and internal controls experience.

- Experience supporting high-growth or entrepreneurial organizations.
- Credit facility and working capital management expertise.
- Process improvement and financial transformation experience.
- Experience partnering directly with ownership groups and executive leadership.
