About the role
We are looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to provide strategic financial leadership for a growing mission-driven nonprofit in Las Vegas, Nevada. This executive will work closely with senior leadership to guide long-term planning, strengthen financial operations, and support responsible expansion across a broad and evolving organization. The ideal candidate brings sound judgment, a collaborative approach, and the ability to translate financial insight into practical decision-making that advances the organization’s impact.
Responsibilities
- Lead the organization’s financial strategy, aligning budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans with growth objectives and mission priorities.
- Partner with executive leadership to evaluate opportunities, assess financial risk, and support informed decisions across programs and operations.
- Oversee accounting, reporting, cash management, and internal controls to ensure accuracy, transparency, and regulatory compliance.
- Direct the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting for a complex nonprofit environment with multiple stakeholders and funding sources.
- Strengthen audit readiness and financial governance by maintaining effective policies, documentation, and oversight practices.
- Build and mentor a high-performing finance function while promoting financial understanding and accountability throughout the organization.
- Develop clear financial reporting for leadership and board-level audiences, highlighting trends, performance, and key business considerations.
- Support funding growth by helping ensure strong fiscal stewardship, sustainable resource planning, and confidence among partners and supporters.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience, including senior-level oversight responsibilities.
- Demonstrated experience serving as a strategic financial partner to executive leadership in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, audit coordination, and internal control frameworks.
- Proven ability to lead teams, develop talent, and build collaborative relationships across departments and external stakeholders.
- Experience managing complex organizational finances, ideally within a multi-program or growth-oriented environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced credentials such as CPA or MBA are preferred.
