Certified Welding Inspector- 1st shift

About the role

This position involves visual welding inspection of poles and heavy structural steel assemblies, ensuring compliance with detailed drawings and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs visual inspection of welded joints to ensure they meet customer specifications and workflow requirements.
• Maintains and updates inspection records and prepares documentation for customer certification.
• Executes in-process weld inspections and monitors activities to ensure compliance with applicable specifications and codes.
• Interprets new project specifications, drawings, and customer requirements.
• Aids in organizing inspection work schedules and addressing quality non-conformances.
• Collaborates with QA/QC team to implement and monitor quality control programs.
• Addresses quality issues related to non-conforming materials or components.

Requirements

• 3 – 5 years of experience in welding heavy steel assemblies, with a portion spent in an inspection role.
• In-depth ability to read and understand shop drawings, especially weld symbols.
• Basic knowledge of AISC and AWS national codes.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement techniques is preferred.
• Positive attitude conducive to progress and continuous improvement.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and follow directions.
• Good oral and written communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Level II Certification in U.T. or M.T., documented successful completion of required academic hours, signed by an accredited level III instructor.
• CWI using ASW D1.1 code.

Schedule

5:00 AM - 3:30 PM Monday to Friday and Saturdays as needed.

Working Conditions

Manufacturing floor/shop and general office. Occasional travel by automobile may be required. Subject to seasonal weather conditions and exposure to shop hazards.
