Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections on welded components using visual, dimensional, and non-destructive testing methods in accordance with AWS, ASME, and other relevant codes
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and technical documentation
- Verify WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications) and PQR (Procedure Qualification Records) compliance
- Conduct and document welder qualification tests and maintain certification records
- Identify welding defects and non-conformities; issue NCRs and support root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Maintain detailed inspection records and contribute to quality reports
- Collaborate with welding, engineering, and production teams to resolve issues and improve processes
- Provide coaching and technical guidance to welders to ensure adherence to quality standards
- Participate in internal and external quality audits
- Ensure safety and compliance in all inspection activities
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Understanding AWS standards. Will train
- 3-5 years of weld inspection experience in a manufacturing environment
- Deep understanding of AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, and other relevant welding codes
- Proficient in visual inspection and common NDT methods (PT, MT preferred)
- Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical training in welding or engineering
- Experience with NDT Level II (UT, RT)
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or high-precision manufacturing
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working in manufacturing and shop-floor environments with PPE
- May require climbing ladders or accessing confined spaces for inspection
