About the role

Overland Park Regional Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT).

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures ordered by a physician
  • Administer medical gases
  • Provide aerosol therapy
  • Obtain and analyze blood specimens
  • Operate and maintain various types of respiratory and cardiopulmonary equipment
  • Assist with cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Provide patient education
  • Maintain safety and infection control practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program required
  • Current Respiratory Therapist license from the State Board for Respiratory Care
  • National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) CRT certification required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required within 30 days of employment start date
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross ACLS certification preferred upon hire
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross NRP certification required within 6 months of hire
  • One year of recent clinical experience preferred

Qualifications

Skills

  • Broad knowledge of the pathophysiology of the cardiopulmonary system
  • Complex procedures required to properly diagnose and treat patients
  • Experience with medical gas administration, aerosol therapy, and patient testing
  • Ability to operate and maintain various types of respiratory and cardiopulmonary equipment
  • Knowledge of mechanical ventilation, artificial airways, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Strong communication and patient education skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain safety and infection control practices
