About the role
At HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, you will perform and document patient assessment, conduct diagnostic procedures, administer respiratory care therapies, assist with artificial airways, initiate and monitor mechanical ventilation, and respond to emergent patient situations to ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation.
Responsibilities
- Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure
- Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy
- Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy
- Assist with placement of artificial airways
- Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation
- Monitor patient for therapeutic response and intervene as appropriate for unintended responses
- Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients
- Respond to emergent patient situations and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation
Requirements
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT-State)
- Neonate Resuscitate certification (must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or ACLS Instructor (must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or BCLS Instructor (must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or PALS Instructor (must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date)
- Associate Degree or Vocational School Graduate
