Certified Recovery Support Peer Specialist

Duties And Responsibilities

• Part of a multidisciplinary overdose response team
• Respond to substance use crises within designated counties
• Conduct home visits to provide follow-up support, education, and referrals
• Work closely with EMS, local police departments, area hospitals, treatment facilities, and other community partners
• Assist individuals in managing the trauma of recent overdoses and minimizing the risk of future overdoses
• Provide trauma-informed, client-centered care to support recovery from addiction

Education And/or Experience

• Certified as a Recovery Support Peer Specialist in Texas or willing to be certified within 6 months of hire
• High School diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent required
• One-year experience in substance misuse and/or crisis intervention activities preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of substance use and misuse, addictions, family systems, and self-help groups
• Experience in researching, organizing, and recording data
• Trained in Motivational Interviewing and trauma informed care
