Responsibilities
- Assist patients in articulating personal goals for recovery.
- Aid patients in determining reasonable and holistic steps towards recovery.
- Support patients in identifying barriers to recovery goals.
- Teach problem-solving skills to patients.
- Teach patients to identify and combat negative self-talk.
- Teach patients how to identify and overcome fears.
- Support the vocational choices patients make and assist them in overcoming job-related anxieties and conflicts.
- Build social skills by demonstrating and reinforcing proper conduct and respectful interaction.
- Identify and utilize community support agencies and services for patients.
- Attend treatment team meetings and medication appointments as requested to represent the patient's needs and perspectives.
- Teach and role model the value of every individual's recovery experience using one's own unique background.
- Maintain effective coping and self-help techniques.
- Continue to develop professional skills by maintaining certification through required coursework.
- Participate in relevant seminars and team in-service training.
- Investigate community resources for appropriateness of services to patients.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with patients and avoid dual relationships within the community.
- Support treatment team objectives and strategies.
- Fulfill documentation requirements of employer accurately and in a timely manner.
- Use inclusive, culturally appropriate language and attitudes with all patients and teammates.
- Attend team meetings and complete all training courses timely as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (General Equivalency Diploma).
- Maintain Certified Recovery Specialty (CRS) credential via the PA Certification Board.
- Self-identify as a current or former patient.
- Maintain healthy recovery from substance abuse.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to meet written communication requirements.
- Be able to verify completion of state-approved training program and passing score on certification exam.
- Have a current valid driver’s license in good standing in state of employment and be insurable by the designated carrier.
- This role requires driving for company purposes and travel up to 50% may be required.
