About the Role

The Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) - Invasive Specialist assists the Radiologist and Cardiologist in the Interventional Radiology/Cardiac Catheterization Lab in the performance of invasive procedures and provides a safe environment for the patient. This role assumes responsibility for the acquisition and processing of state-of-the-art imaging as well as the efficient operation of the equipment. The CRT will also participate in monitoring, scrubbing, and circulating duties. This classification reports directly to the Director of Cardiovascular Services.

Responsibilities

• Perform Quality Control on radiology imaging equipment, fluoroscopy checks, and ensure radiation protection for professional staff and physicians.
• Function as a contributing member of the Interventional Radiology/Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory team, collaborating with cardiologists, radiologists, registered nurses, and cardiovascular technicians.
• Provide technical skills necessary to assist physicians in performing Interventional Radiology and Cardiac Catheterization procedures.
• Ensure a safe environment for patients during procedures.
• Function as a Scrub Assistant, ensuring compliance with principles of aseptic/sterile technique by self and team members.
• Ensure adequate floor and room stock for imaging procedures.
• Assist in recording, storing, retrieval, and analyzing data obtained during interventional cardiovascular procedures.
• Monitor patients, including hemodynamic data, ECG, and angiographic data; recognize and report changes to the physician and team in a timely manner.
• Prepare radiologic and laboratory equipment while adhering to aseptic/sterile technique; maintain, evaluate, and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
• Perform circulator duties, including gathering and organizing equipment, instruments, and supplies for procedures, and providing emergency ACLS interventions within scope of practice.
• Assist with monitoring for moderate sedation during procedures.
• Apply ACLS protocols and emergency drug knowledge during critical situations to ensure patient safety.
• Assist with pre-, intra-, and post-procedure assessments to meet nursing needs and consult with physicians and professional staff.
• Provide patient education.
• Assume on-call duty as assigned, responding within 30 minutes for emergency procedures.
• Promote a healthful, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients and families; set up and control infection control environments.
• Participate in implementing patient care standards, infection control standards, and quality assurance criteria; assist with studies and attend unit meetings.
• Contact physicians and/or other departments to obtain or provide patient information.
• Accompany, assist, and represent the needs of patients to other providers.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology.
• Three years of recent experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory with interventional cardiology/STEMI (one year must be within the last two years). Interventional radiology experience preferred.

Qualifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Certification – issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
• BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification – issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Current California Fluoroscopy permit.
• Valid current certificate as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the State of California; valid ARRT Radiologic Technologist certification or equivalent education approved by the state of California.
• RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) eligible preferred; must be RCIS eligible within two years of hire and pass the exam within one year of eligibility.

Pay

Pay range: $75.75 - $97.27 per hour. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, education, skills, licenses, certifications, departmental equity, collective bargaining agreements, and operational needs.

Schedule

10-hour shifts, 4x10 (7:00 AM to 5:30 PM).
