About the role

Central Minnesota Mental Health Center (CMMHC) is seeking a Certified Peer Specialist Behavioral Health Practitioner to work in the St. Cloud (Stearns, Benton, Sherburne & Wright County) area.

This position is responsible for providing individual peer support and group services for individuals with serious mental illnesses and individuals in recovery for substance use disorders, who receive services under the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC).

Responsibilities

  • Work with providers, staff, and community towards improving both physical and mental health for individuals and families.
  • Assess, refer, and monitor progress towards achieving goals in the overall health of individuals and families.
  • Provide one-on-one peer support, and groups, focused on behavior changes to improve quality of life.
  • Empower individuals with skills to engage in the management of both physical and mental health.
  • Document interactions and interventions as directed.
  • Follow all mandated reporter guidelines and always review suspicious concerns with supervisor.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Peer Specialist Certification or enrolled in Peer Certification Training
  • Mental Health Practitioner status per the Minnesota Statue
  • Qualify as a Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) 4,000 hours working with those with mental health, developmental disabilities, or chemical dependency diagnosis: which can be part- time over several years or 2 years full time.
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences or related fields and completes a practicum or internship or employment that (1) requires direct interaction with adults or children served, and (2) is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields (2,000 hours).
  • Holds a master’s degree or another graduate degree in behavioral sciences or related fields.
  • Experience in wellness coaching.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing superior customer service.
  • Clear DHS background study.
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
