Certified Patient Care Assistant Progressive Care Unit

About the role

Banner Desert Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to join their Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Mesa, Arizona. The PCU is part of their East Valley expansion, offering 36 beds to support patients.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance in activities of daily living and completes necessary tasks to promote patient health.
• Absorbs and documents patient data, including vital signs, input/output, and other delegated measurements.
• Recognizes and reports abnormalities or changes in the patient’s health status and responses to treatment.
• Maintains continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating patient status to other caregivers.
• Performs procedures and uses equipment as delegated by a licensed professional, consistent with demonstrated competencies and according to state scope of practice.
• Participates in OR room turnover and assists with transporting patients, including pre-operative and immediate post-operative patients to critical care units.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in state of practice.

Qualifications

• Medical clerical experience, preferably in a hospital or physician office setting.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy.
• Basic electrocardiogram interpretation course or on-the-job training.

Schedule

Full Time and Part Time Night Shift positions working from 6pm-6:30am. Rotating weekends and holidays are required.
