Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Occupational Therapists (OT) to create individualized rehabilitation plans aimed at improving residents' functionality and quality of life.
- Implement therapy activities that are designed to meet the unique needs and capabilities of each resident under the guidance and supervision of the Occupational Therapist (OTR/L).
- Absorb residents in performing daily activities, helping them build independence and engage in meaningful tasks to enhance their well-being.
- Monitor residents’ progress during therapy sessions, offering support, motivation, and encouragement to achieve therapy goals.
- Educate residents on the proper use of specialized equipment and assistive devices to promote independence and improve function in daily life.
- Supervise therapy activities to ensure the safety, efficacy, and proper implementation of therapy interventions.
- Maintain accurate records by documenting residents’ progress, treatment sessions, and outcomes in the facility’s rehabilitation software.
- Communicate with OTR/L about residents' progress, concerns, and adjustments needed to treatment plans to ensure optimal outcomes.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program.
- Current and valid New York State OTA License.
- Experience in a long-term care or rehabilitation setting is preferred, but not required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- A compassionate and patient-centered approach to therapy and resident care.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
