About the role
Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital dedicated to providing world-class inpatient post-ICU services to chronically ill patients. Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA) are integral in delivering compassionate care to patients during their most vulnerable moments.
Responsibilities
- Treating patients with complex needs and challenging diagnoses under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist (OT).
- Conducting individual patient therapy regimens.
- Maintaining patient safety and ensuring effective communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Monitoring patient responses to treatment and making necessary adjustments during sessions in collaboration with an OT.
- Completing all necessary documentation according to department policies and procedures.
- Participating in departmental, hospital, and community continuing education seminars and in-services.
Requirements
- Current state licensure or eligibility for state licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant required.
- Certified BLS or completion in first 90 days of employment required or as required by state regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy or related field.
- Completion of an accredited occupational therapy assistant program.
- Passing scores on the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) exam.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records and other relevant software.
