About the role

BayPointe Hospital is a psychiatric acute care facility located in Mobile, AL. It serves both children and adolescent populations and adults. Clinical and medical professionals assess and evaluate patients in psychiatric crises. Treatment focuses on stabilizing psychiatric symptoms and preventing psychiatric commitment.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily tasks of vital signs, blood sugar testing, intakes & outputs, EKG’s, and assists consumers with activities of daily living (i.e. baths, positioning, feeding) under the direction of an licensed nurse.
• Provides ongoing monitoring and interaction with the consumers.
• Demonstrates the ability to recognize the elements of a crisis state and knows how to deescalate or resolve the situation.
• Effectively collaborates with the treatment team member.
• Demonstrates willingness to work on any unit at BayPointe/EastPointe based on facility needs.
• Models appropriate behavior including but not limited to communication skills, grooming, manners, etc.
• Maintains AltaPointe Productivity standards.
• Provides one to one coverage to consumers on special status as assigned.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Reports accident or driving violations to supervisor and human resources.
• Accepts and employs suggestions for improvement.
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities.
• Participates in AltaPointe committees as required.
• Follows AltaPointe policies and procedures.
• Attends appropriate in-service trainings and workshops.
• Documents in a timely fashion per AltaPointe policy.
• Documents in a clear and concise manner the types of consumers’ problems, daily progress notes, progress on BLSs, treatment goals addressed, and services provided.
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities.
• Participates in AltaPointe committees as required.
• Follows AltaPointe policies and procedures.
• Attends appropriate in-service trainings and workshops.
• Documents legibly.
• Treats consumers with care, dignity and compassion.
• Respects consumers’ privacy and confidentiality.
• Is pleasant and cooperative with others.
• Assists consumers and visitors as needed.
• Personal values don’t inhibit ability to relate and care for others.
• Sensitive to the consumers’ needs, expectations and individual differences.
• Gentle and calm with consumers and families.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, sitting, and walking which are in bursts of 5 to 10 minutes.
• Occasional forward bending from the hips while kneeling to reach to the side.
• Occasional need to be able to assume a full squat/lunge from a standing position.
• Occasional need to maintain back extension while being on stomach with one’s own body weight on hips and legs, this position is maintained for several minutes.
• Occasional need to kneel and reach to same side toward the floor.
• Occasionally, be able to put one’s own body weight on one knee and one elbow on the same side of one’s body.
