About the role

BayPointe Hospital is a psychiatric acute care facility located in Mobile, AL. It serves both children and adolescent populations and adults, providing 24-hour clinical and medical care for those exhibiting life-threatening, destructive, or disabling behavior.

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily tasks such as vital signs, blood sugar testing, intakes & outputs, EKGs, and assists consumers with activities of daily living.
  • Maintains ongoing monitoring and interaction with consumers.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize crisis states and deescalate situations.
  • Collaborates with the treatment team and demonstrates willingness to work across units.
  • Models appropriate behavior and actively seeks supervision and consultation.
  • Documents activities and consumer progress in a timely and clear manner.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and committee meetings.
  • Assists consumers with personal care, activities, and safety issues.
  • Trains consumers on basic living skills aligned with their rehabilitation goals.
  • Provides one-to-one coverage to consumers on special status as assigned.
  • Reports accidents and driving violations to supervisor and human resources.
  • Accepts and implements suggestions for improvement.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in Alabama

Qualifications

  • Frequent standing, sitting, and walking with occasional forward bending, squatting, and kneeling.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Strong grasp to use keys and maintain contact with consumers during restraint procedures.
  • Ability to push/pull objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Quick ambulation to assist coworkers with restraint procedures.
  • Physical stamina and flexibility to adapt to various consumer needs.

Skills

  • Effective communication and collaboration with the treatment team.
  • Ability to recognize and deescalate crisis states.
  • Knowledge of consumer rehabilitation goals and basic living skills.
