About the Role
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or licensed Nurse, this role assists with routine and repetitive patient care activities in a nursing unit. The position also performs specific clerical, organizational, and patient-focused activities, with patient-focused tasks being supportive in nature.
Responsibilities
- Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Assists with the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients, completing pertinent documents.
- Prepares rooms for admission by setting up IV poles and adjusting beds to the appropriate level.
- Ensures all patient belongings accompany the patient to the new unit or home at time of discharge.
- Safely transports stable patients as required.
- Maintains security and confidentiality when transporting patients and interacting with family and visitors.
- Cleans, procures, and returns equipment and supplies; runs errands for the unit as required.
- Assists licensed personnel in providing a safe and comfortable environment; replenishes patient rooms with water, linen, and towels as appropriate.
- Performs unit-specific patient care tasks in accordance with the skills checklist and documents on the flowsheet.
- Identifies obvious changes in the patient's condition and reports those changes promptly to the nurse in charge.
- Assists with ordering and maintaining stock items according to established inventory when needed.
- Keeps unit supplies organized and orderly.
- Responds appropriately to emergencies.
- Communicates effectively with other team members during and between shifts.
- Responds to phone calls and patient call lights.
- Adapts assigned patient assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific, and developmental needs of each patient served.
- Demonstrates competence in performing assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets population-specific and developmental needs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Patient care experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
- CNA License in state of employment required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
Schedule
Multiple shifts available.
Work Type
Per Diem (As Needed).
