About the Role
Independently manages low-risk women's care during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, co-managing higher risk cases with physicians. Provides comprehensive maternity care, counseling, and education following standards set by professional organizations and regulatory bodies.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates obstetrical health, pregnancy status, fetal well-being, and conducts physical exams.
- Orders and interprets lab and imaging studies, detects abnormal conditions, and consults with physicians as needed.
- Educates and guides women on health, pregnancy, and family planning, including teaching antepartum classes.
- Manages low-risk labor and delivery independently, with supervision for high-risk cases.
- Oversees postpartum care, including family planning and contraception prescriptions.
Qualifications & Skills
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Certified Nurse Midwife (California) and Registered Nurse license.
- Certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board.
- Valid California Nurse-Midwife furnishing certification and supervised clinical obstetric ultrasound experience preferred.
- Must hold or obtain DEA registration and NPI at hire, and maintain Basic Life Support certification.
- Ability to work within a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
