About the role
The position involves providing prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and/or newborn care to patients. It includes monitoring fetal development, documenting health histories, providing family planning services, prescribing medications, developing individualized health care plans, explaining procedures, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and more.
Responsibilities
- Assess the health status of patients by obtaining health and medical histories, performing physical examinations, and diagnosing health and developmental problems.
- Manage the care of women (including LGBTQ+ patients) during labor, delivery, and the initial post-partum period.
- Provide prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and/or newborn care to patients.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of patient care.
- Order and interpret diagnostic or laboratory tests as needed.
- Prescribe medications as permitted by state regulations.
- Develop and implement individualized plans for health care management.
- Explain procedures to patients, family members, staff members, or others.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Nursing required.
- Minimum of two years of experience as a Nurse Midwife is required to be a Midwife II.
- Additional three years of midwifery experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Midwife, Certified Nurse [State License] required.
Skills
Knowledge of midwifery practices, ability to work independently, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in healthcare technology.
