Job Description Summary

The Certified Nurse Midwife NE at MarinHealth Medical Network works in both inpatient and outpatient settings, providing comprehensive care to patients with various insurance types. This role involves managing childbirth, delivering babies, and providing postpartum care. The Certified Nurse Midwife may also assist in surgeries and participate in hospital committees.

Job Requirements, Prerequisites and Essential Functions:

  • $80.00 - $92.50 - $110.00

  • Education: Master’s degree from an accredited school of nursing or public health (MSN, MPH) and a midwifery program approved by the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM).

  • Licenses & Certifications: Current California RN and Certified Nurse Midwife license, certified by the ACNM, and current BLS or ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.

  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife, preferred.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Hospitalists to provide appropriate care within midwifery protocols to all OB patients at MarinHealth Medical Center.

  • Provides prenatal, labor management, and postpartum care according to standardized procedures and protocols, and in consultation with a physician.

  • Performs physical, vaginal, breast, clinical pelvimetry, and general health status OB and GYN exams; orders and/or performs approved laboratory and diagnostic exams; consults with and/or refers complications to a physician.

  • Manages low-risk patients independently, assumes co-management of high-risk women when appropriate, and manages complications and emergencies until a physician arrives.

  • Assists physicians with operative deliveries as required, including completing C-section surgical assist certification.

  • Performs initial assessment of newborn status; assists in establishing the airway and maintaining body temperature; begins resuscitation efforts in the absence of a physician.

  • Manages postpartum care; writes postpartum orders as indicated; provides guidance, assistance, and referrals to community medical and social agencies and resources; signs birth certificates.

  • Participates in prenatal and postpartum patient education; performs Medi-Cal administrative activities as needed.

  • Prepares, inputs, and maintains organized, detailed, and accurate medical records; collaborates with other members of the health care team on an ongoing basis.

  • Provides rounding and medical handoff to new clinical teams when performing in-patient care; willing to mentor and teach medical and midwifery students.

  • Attends in-patient and outpatient CNM meetings; attends clinic site staff meetings.

Qualifications
