Certified Medication Aide
About the role
The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) will be responsible for providing medication administration, personal hygiene assistance, activities of daily living support, adjunct care, patient comfort, documentation, and maintaining patient stability.
Responsibilities
- Provide medication administration to residents under direction of RN.
- Give bedpans, urinals, baths, back rubs, shampoos, and shaves; assist with travel to the bathroom; help with showers and baths.
- Serve meals, feed patients as necessary; ambulate, turn, and position patients; provide fresh water and nourishment between meals.
- Administer enemas, douches, non-sterile dressings, surgical preps, ice packs, heat treatments, sits and therapeutic baths; apply restraints.
- Check vital signs and weight; test urine; record intake and output information.
- Utilize resources and materials; transport patients; answer call lights and requests; report observations to nursing supervisor.
- Complete forms, reports, logs, and records.
- Enhance nursing department and hospital reputation by accepting ownership for new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Requirements
- Proper licensing in state of the job.
- Experience in administering oral, topical, optic, ophthalmic medications and subcutaneous injections.
- Previous CMA experience.
- Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
- Multi-tasker, able to proceed in a courteous and professional manner.
