About the role

Responsible for providing direct patient care to medical and/or behavioral health patients by performing the duties identified in the Certified Medical Assistant’s (CMA) Scope of Practice, including administration of vaccines and medications. The CMA plays a key role in the physicians’ practice and provides the assistance necessary to ensure all patients receive quality care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in accordance with the CMA’s Scope of Practice
• Administer vaccines and medications
• Assist physicians in delivering quality patient care
• Demonstrate courtesy, respect, and excellent phone etiquette
• Maintain high attention to detail and organization
• Communicate effectively with a variety of staff members
• Exercise excellent judgment and work well under pressure with minimal supervision
• Handle patient complaints with tact and diplomacy
• Maintain a high degree of confidentiality
• Apply critical thinking and analytical skills
• Perform tasks requiring math skills
• Work in compliance with the Medical Assistants Scope of Practice as required by LCDF

Requirements

• Current CPR and phlebotomy certifications
• Current and unrestricted Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification
• Valid New Mexico or Texas driver’s license and up-to-date automobile insurance

Qualifications

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
• Excellent time management skills
• Self-initiating with strong communication abilities
• Computer literate
