Certified Medical Assistant II, Full Time, Days, AMG Hematology/Oncology, Sparta, NJ
Responsible for providing general direct and indirect patient care in a clinical setting under the direct supervision of a physician. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure functionality of practice operations to provide excellent patient care. Ensures medical facilities run smoothly, working in a clerical, administrative, or clinical capacity, and may perform specialized tasks.
Responsibilities
- Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers appropriate screening tools.
- Records medical information and test results, conducts patient interviews, takes and records vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medication under physician supervision.
- Assists with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, ensures verification and recording of clinical data, and adherence to quality standards.
- Guides patients through the health care system and helps patients arrive at scheduled appointments on time.
- Takes vital signs to establish a baseline for future exams.
- Assists with examinations, working closely with physicians to perform clinical tasks.
- Collects and prepares laboratory samples, instructing patients on sample collection or drawing blood.
- Greets patients and welcomes them to the facility.
- Schedules appointments for patients.
- Maintains medical records, including patient medical histories and vital signs in the computer system.
- Cleans and sanitizes patient rooms between visits.
- Preps examination rooms, ensuring disinfection of equipment and stocking of supplies.
- Provides emotional support related to the patient's clinical situation in accordance with the patient's plan of care.
- Assists with referrals of patients to appropriate specialists for diagnosis or treatment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- National Certification as a CCMA from: NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT. OR Precertification agreement must be signed if expired or receiving certification within 60 days of employment.
- BLS certification upon hire.
- 1 year of experience in health care services.
- 3+ years of experience in an outpatient, ambulatory setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Medical Care or related field.
- Experience with EPIC or similar EMR system.
- Ability to work within computer systems.
