Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) (Floater)

Brief Description

The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD (“The HARRIS CENTER”) is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join their team. Under the direct supervision of a Physician or Physician Assistant, the CMA will perform medical procedures and tests, maintain patient records, explain common medical procedures to patients, and assist with basic examinations.

Role in Action

• Perform medical procedures and tests under the direct supervision of a Physician or Physician Assistant.
• Assist Physician with exams and tests.
• Measure and record vital signs, including: Blood pressure, Pulse, Temperature, Weight, Height.
• Interview patients.
• Instruct patients on medication administration, diet, exercise, and other Physician directed orders.
• Keep accurate patient records and ensure that all related reports, information, and lab results are organized and filed with patient records.
• Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies and instruments.
• Prepare examination rooms between patients.
• Sterilize medical instruments after each patient.
• Answer calls from patients, physicians, and pharmacies and take appropriate action.
• Call-in prescriptions and prescription refills daily.
• Maintain accurate logs of office supplies and equipment.

Education

• High School Diploma or General Education diploma.
• Experience: 1 year experience preferred.

• Certifications as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
• Knowledge of the healthcare field, the medical specialty of the office or center in which they work, and medical terminology.
