Responsibilities
- Adhere to laboratory procedures for the collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results.
- Follow established quality control policies and procedures, documenting all corrective actions when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
- Identify and address problems affecting test performance, either independently or by notifying supervisors.
- Perform a variety of laboratory procedures, utilizing both manual and automated methods in Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and other disciplines.
- Perform and document maintenance on instruments and equipment as necessary.
- Review and verify the accuracy of patient results before releasing or reporting them.
- Recognize and account for age-specific variations in expected results.
- Ensure proficiency testing samples are analyzed in the same manner as patient samples and collaborate only with appropriate agencies regarding proficiency testing results.
- May perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on various age groups.
- Aid in the development and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures.
- Comply with department and hospital policies and procedures related to safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and human resources.
- In the absence of a supervisor, may assume responsibility for the section or department during their shift.
- May be assigned responsibilities related to LIS and/or POCT.
- Perform other tasks or responsibilities as assigned by the department manager/director.
Qualifications
- ASCP certification, or equivalent, preferred.
- One year hospital laboratory work experience preferred, but not required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science, or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements stated in CLIA (42 CFR 493.1423).
- Current and valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required.

Pay
The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure. A reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $33.79.
