Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist

Full-time position (1.0 FTE) with day and swing shifts available.

Pay

Salary range: $36.79 - $50.59 per hour.

• $1.96 shift differential for working between 3:00pm - 11:00pm
• $4.25 shift differential for working between 11:01pm and 7:00am
• $1.82 shift differential for working weekends

About the Organization

Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center (ARRMC), located in Medford, Oregon, is a 378-bed regional referral and trauma center featuring the latest medical technology and clinical expertise. The hospital delivers nationally recognized heart and stroke care, orthopedic services, cancer care, and diabetes care, as well as a comprehensive range of key services including neurology, neurosurgery, bariatric surgery, rehabilitation, hospice, and the region’s only neonatal intensive care unit.

The Laboratory at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center conducts over two million billed tests per year and is a major factor in the hospital’s designation as a 100 Top Cardiovascular Hospital. The lab employs a staff of skilled professionals, including nine pathologists, and covers a full range of specialties: Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Cytology, Microbiology, Molecular, and Histology. The lab is also a Red Cross Depot Center and offers an extensive esoteric menu through Special Chemistry.

The lab features advanced equipment, including Total Lab Automation (one of the first sites in the state), Epic Beaker LIS, Power Express Automation line, AU5800, DXI, DXH 900, Cellavision, Iriscell, Top 750, Bactec, and Cobas Molecular Platform. In addition to supporting the nationally recognized cardiovascular program, the lab supports oncology, a neonatal intensive care unit, three general intensive care units, and trauma care. The laboratory is CAP accredited and AABB certified.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Laboratory Sciences or related field, or equivalent in education, experience, and certification is required.
• Master's degree in Microbiology, Clinical Lab Science, or related field is preferred.
• One of the following certifications is required:
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) from ASCP, or
  • Equivalent certification (AMT, NCA, or military), or
  • Eligible for MLS and obtain within 6 months of hire.
• A specialty certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) may be considered in lieu of MLS certification.

Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to stand, walk, or lift/handle/carry between 20 and 50 pounds as a regular part of work duties.
