About the role

The Field Performance Technician 3 performs advanced troubleshooting and complex service diagnosis, while also training and developing other Field Performance team members. This role requires an electrical certification per state requirements and a valid Journeyman License or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, lead, and maintain the warranty and service schedule.
  • Work with the Electrical Foreman, Construction Supervisor, and Branch Manager to allocate labor resources for service and warranty projects.
  • Assist with training and development for Field Service Technicians and Field Communications Technicians.
  • Lead regular meetings to align and train the local field service team on best practices.
  • Support the on-boarding and training of new members of the field performance team.
  • Regularly exceed defined goals for field performance KPIs, including turnaround time, experience rating, and average dispatches completed.
  • Assist with inspections and site audits when assigned.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of previous field construction experience, with at least 1 year as a service technician in the solar industry.
  • High School diploma (required).
  • PV design or PV electrical experience (preferred).
  • Valid state or local Electrical Journeyman license or equivalent (e.g., wireman license).

  • Knowledge of the NEC and applicable codes and standards.

  • Electrical/PV Installation Knowledge: Ability to interpret single-line drawings, understand PV systems from roof to meter, and apply electrical principles for solar interconnection and code compliance.

  • Customer-focused: Builds rapport and maintains strong relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Results-driven: Meets deadlines, works independently or as part of a team, and drives results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving: Strong logical decision-making, troubleshooting, and escalation skills; takes ownership of issues.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to transport materials and equipment (up to 50 pounds frequently, up to 100 pounds with assistance).
  • Work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces, requiring bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, and balance.
  • Climb ladders and work in outdoor conditions (excessive noise, extreme heat/cold, wet/humid environments).
  • Frequent use of fine motor skills (e.g., fine manipulation, grasping, pinching).
  • Work safely with equipment like ladders, fall protection harnesses, and other PPE.
  • Maintain balance on roofs and other elevated areas.
  • Work in sun and low-light conditions.
  • Walk on rafters, roof tiles, and shingles without causing damage.
  • Distinguish colors (e.g., red, black, yellow, white, green).
  • Work in confined spaces (attics, basements, crawl spaces) requiring kneeling and crouching.
  • Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings.
  • Work with chemicals using appropriate protections.

Pay

Starting salary/wage for this opportunity: $30.51 to $40.67 per hour. Compensation decisions are not based on a candidate's salary history.
