About the Role
The Certified Hybrid Field Technician supports the residential solar installation pipeline by performing site assessments, post-install inspections, and other fieldwork. This role ensures projects begin with accurate data and end with successful final inspections, working across job sites to meet internal standards and local code requirements. It’s ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and customer interaction.
Responsibilities
- Visit customer homes to collect detailed measurements, photographs, and structural/electrical data for solar design.
- Assess roof conditions, electrical service panels, and property features using standardized tools and protocols.
- Climb ladders, walk rooftops, and conduct attic inspections as required.
- Submit survey data accurately and promptly using mobile field tools.
- Perform post-installation inspections to confirm project readiness for AHJ or utility approval.
- Verify installed systems match approved plans and meet workmanship, code, and safety standards.
- Collaborate with install teams and project managers to resolve inspection-related issues.
- Provide documentation (photos, checklists, notes) verifying inspection readiness.
- Discuss system installations with AHJs and customers.
- Review completed installations to determine readiness for inspection.
- Work with AHJs and customers to schedule inspections.
- Follow dynamic, intraday schedules for surveys and inspections across locations.
- Communicate delays, access issues, or discrepancies to internal teams.
- Maintain tools and safety equipment in proper working condition.
- Represent the company professionally during customer interactions.
- Flexibility to work occasional weekends, extended shifts, or holidays based on demand.
- Participate in safety briefings, trainings, or field team huddles.
- Drive a company-provided or approved vehicle between job sites.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid state-recognized Electrical Certification at the Journeyman, Wireman, or higher level.
- Minimum one year of field construction experience; PV design, installation, or electrical experience preferred.
- Comfortable working on roofs, using ladders, and in tight or elevated spaces.
- Familiarity with basic hand tools, measuring devices, and mobile technology.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow standardized procedures.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.
- Must be 21+ years old with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable climbing and working from 20-foot ladders.
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions (heat, cold, variable weather).
- Capable of working in attics and confined spaces.
- Must be able to walk rooftops of varying slopes and materials.
Pay
Starting salary/wage for this opportunity: $33.40 to $44.54 per hour. Compensation decisions are not based on a candidate's salary history.
