Certified Central Sterile Technician
About the role
A Certified Central Sterile Technician who excels in this role:
- Collects, decontaminates, stores and distributes all reusable supplies and patient care equipment in the hospital.
- Provides inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
- Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.
- Provides customer service to all departments with a focus on the patient need.
- Processes and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
- Maintains and monitors antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.
Responsibilities

Requirements
- Central Sterile Technician (CSR) certification within 6 months of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
