Certified Caregiver

About the role

Provides personal caregiving services and support in the client’s home. Assists with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Supports the personal needs, comfort, and safety of clients. Prepares meals and assists with special diets. Performs general housekeeping and household support activities. Provides compassionate companionship and emotional support. Assists with transportation to appointments, errands, and activities. Administers medications as delegated and permitted by state regulations, including completion of Nurse Delegation.

Responsibilities

• Affords personal caregiving services and support in the client’s home.
• Affords assistance with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Affords support to the personal needs, comfort, and safety of clients.
• Affords preparation of meals and assistance with special diets.
• Affords performance of general housekeeping and household support activities.
• Affords provision of compassionate companionship and emotional support.
• Affords assistance with transportation to appointments, errands, and activities.
• Affords administration of medications as delegated and permitted by state regulations, including completion of Nurse Delegation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Current HCA or CNA license required (renewed annually).
• Ability to meet BCCU background check requirements.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work responsibly with confidential information.
• Dependable, compassionate, and able to work independently with good judgment.
• Must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements

• Sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching with hands and arms.
• Close, distance, and peripheral vision.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
• Ability to use a computer keyboard and electronic documentation systems.
• Moderate to loud noise levels depending on the environment.
• Exposure to varying temperatures in home or office settings.
