Responsibilities

  • Implements certification standards
  • Discusses, disseminates, and interprets certification requirements with students, staff, faculty, and/or administration
  • Researches and prepares deficiency plans for professional certification
  • Verifies students’ successful completion of admission or registration requirements for acceptance into the program and field-based studies
  • Cleans and approves students for Student Teaching and provides final clearance for certificate application
  • Submits data online to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for issuance of students’ teaching or professional certificates, in addition to confirming completions online
  • Completes data for reporting purposes
  • Maintains TK-20 System, related to students and their status in the Teacher Ed Program
  • Verifies eligibility status of students registering for the Texas Examinations of Educator Standards (TExES) exams or other accredited certifying bodies
  • Serves on committees and participates in faculty meetings to provide information required by faculty and special requests from students
  • Serves as a liaison between public school district personnel and the University regarding preparation programs that provide verification of University and State rules and regulations
  • Coordinates certification testing process to include logistics, scheduling, and proctor placement
  • Determines instructor and proctor eligibility
  • Organizes large test events
  • Recruits, hires, and trains new testing instructors and proctors

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five years of related experience
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
  • Knowledge of University, State, and Federal laws, regulations, and policies
  • Knowledge of the Family Education Rights Privacy Act (FERPA)
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding
  • Excellent organizational skills

Pay

Salary: Commensurate with experience. The target base annual salary range is $49,000 up to $53,926.56 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.

Schedule

Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate which may entail some evenings and weekends pending scheduled activities.
