As an ophthalmic assistant at Carolina Eyecare, you'll receive hands-on training to prepare for a fulfilling career in ophthalmology. You'll work closely with renowned ophthalmic surgeons and optometrists, assisting with diagnostic testing and patient care.

Essential Job Functions

  • Take histories and perform various procedures and tests for patients
  • Prepare patients for consultations with doctors
  • Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications
  • Conduct tonometry tests to measure intraocular pressure
  • Measure visual acuity
  • Document patients' medical histories
  • Conduct visual field tests to measure field of vision
  • Instruct patients on the care and use of contact lenses

Education and Experience

  • Experience within a professional environment with a strong customer service focus
  • Previous experience within the medical field preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED required, willing to train the right person
  • Experience in optometry or ophthalmology a plus

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with the home office located in Charleston, SC. Travel to surrounding areas such as West Ashley, Mount Pleasant, Summerville, and other offices is required.
