About the role

Service Technicians are responsible for performing shop and/or field repairs on Oil Free Centrifugal air compressors, maintenance service and troubleshooting of Centrifugal air compressors and its components.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical skills including but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting and repair of compressed air systems and accessories
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of compressed air systems and/or accessories both during normal working hours and after-hours, weekends, and holidays as directed
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance service and/or repairs of compressed air systems and/or accessories
  • Complete tear down and overhauls of Centrifugal air compressors, removing and installing bearings, seals, and rotating assemblies
  • Versed in Centrifugal controllers for both IR product line and competitive lines
  • Read and interpret operational manuals, electrical schematics, general compressed air equipment literature, and work orders to perform required maintenance and/or repairs
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report them and any other unusual situations to the service manager in a timely manner
  • Comply with safety regulations
  • Maintain clean and orderly shop work areas, company vehicles, and job site work areas
  • Drive company vehicle to and from job sites throughout the day
  • Overnight travel by land and/or air may be required

Additional Job Functions

  • May perform work requiring the use of welding tools, winch, pulley, hoist and/or A Frames
  • May be required to tow a trailer or portable air compressor using Company vehicle
  • Computer versed in downloading or uploading programs into controllers
  • Versed in training on Centrifugal controllers, PM, and tear down
  • Capable of working on Oil Free rotary and Oil Flooded air compressors
  • Capable of working on large Refrigerated and Desiccant Air Dryers

Required Experience

  • Working knowledge of compressed air systems and its components, including knowledge of the mechanical operation, associated hazards, and proper usage of the equipment
  • Ability to interpret schematics and operational manuals for practical application on repair and maintenance tasks
  • Working knowledge of fundamental mathematical operations
  • Skilled usage of mechanical tools utilized to repair and maintain compressed air systems and their components
  • Ability to perform duties in non-climate-controlled environments such as outdoor weather conditions and non-weather related wet, humid and/or extreme heat conditions

Qualifications

  • High School or equivalent (GED)
  • 5 to 7 years of related work experience or training or equivalent combination of both education and experience
  • Motor Vehicle Record must be in good standing and comply with Company policy
  • Experience on Ingersoll Rand, Atlas Copco, Quincy, Kaeser, Sullair, Gardner Denver, Kobelco, Boge, Kaishan compressors are a plus
